Psychology -
This is an introductory class in which we will explore a variety of topics in the field of psychology. There are several topics that will be covered, although not necessarily in any particular order.
- Introduction covers the history and types of psychology and psychologists.
- Biopsychology explores the relationship between our body (biology) and our behavior. We will look at the functions of the brain, sensation and perception, and differing forms of consciousness.
- Learning and Cognition will examine the differing ways in which we learn and think.
- Lifespan Development will explore how humans develop from infancy to death
- Personality focuses on how we develop particular traits including our motivation and emotions.
- Health and Adjustment focuses on the effects of your physical health and mental health, as well as mental disorders and how they are treated.
- Social Psychology examines the relationship between social interactions and our mental health.
Throughout the semester you will be conducting several hands on experiments both of your own creation and mine. You will also write a research paper regarding the use of psychology in the real world.
